Master of Industrial Science

Course Overview

This is a full research programme delivered at UNITEN’s Putrajaya campus. Students choose a specialised area of Industrial Science and make an academic contribution to it through their own research. The key research areas are Industrial & Applied Mathematics, Environmental Science & Chemical Technology, Applied Statistics, Numerical & Scientific Computing, Applied Optics, and Materials Science Research. Students may also work as lab instructors or run tutorials for diploma, foundation and bachelor students in exchange for a fee discount, subject to approval each semester. The programme is aimed at future researchers and academics, R&D scientists, and specialists in science fields relevant to industry.

Full-time study takes 2 to 3 years and part-time study takes 3 to 4 years. Intakes are in January, June and September.

Entry Requirements

a. Bachelors in the relevant domain with Second-Class Upper with honours or CGPA 2.75 and above, or b. Bachelors in the relevant domain with Second-Class Lower with honours or CGPA 2.33 -2.74 and 1 year experience in the domain and at least 1 publication in the domain, or 2 years professional experience in the domain; or               c. other equivalent qualifications

Career paths

Graduates typically become university researchers or academics, researchers at research institutions, R&D scientists, or specialists in industry-related science fields. Some continue to a PhD, and UNITEN offers a PhD in Industrial Science.
