The MSc in Food Processing and Innovation is a new programme that, for the first time, brings innovation management into food processing education. It is designed for aspiring food entrepreneurs, government officials, and food industry professionals, and covers the whole food processing value chain, from understanding the components of food to launching a venture that can shake up and strengthen the food processing sector in Asia. The programme targets graduates and working professionals, and explains how ingredients are developed and launched from concept to completion. It draws on staff expertise in food processing, business development, packaging, food safety, legislation, and sustainability, and students can also take part in industrial projects at selected companies.
Applicants need a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Engineering, Food Processing, Food Safety, Food Quality, Chemical Engineering Technology, or a related field, with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or equivalent, as approved by the UniKL Senate. Applicants with a CGPA between 2.00 and 2.49 may be accepted after a rigorous internal assessment. Candidates without a related qualification or relevant work experience must complete prerequisite courses set by UniKL and also meet the minimum CGPA.
