Doctor of Philosophy (Information and Communication Technology) (By Research)

Course Overview

The Doctor of Philosophy (Information and Communication Technology) at Management & Science University (MSU) is a research-based doctoral programme designed to develop advanced expertise in ICT through independent and original research. Students undertake supervised research aimed at generating new knowledge and demonstrating critical and independent thinking in the field of ICT.

The programme allows students to specialise in an area of their choice while receiving guidance from experienced academic supervisors. In addition to conducting research, students participate in research-related activities such as conference presentations, journal publications, thesis writing, and the viva voce examination. The programme is designed to prepare graduates for advanced careers in the ICT industry, academia, research, and consulting.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

• A Master’s Degree (Level 7, MQF) in Computing or a related field, as accepted by the HEP Senate.

• A Master’s Degree (Level 7, MQF) in a non-Computing field with at least 5 years of relevant working experience in Computing or related fields. Applicants may be required to complete prerequisite courses determined by the HEP.

• A Master’s Degree (Level 7, MQF) in a non-Computing field with less than 5 years of relevant Computing experience may also be considered. Applicants must undergo a rigorous assessment to determine the appropriate prerequisite courses.

• Other qualifications equivalent to a Master’s Degree (Level 7, MQF) in Computing or a related field, recognised by the Malaysian Government, may also be accepted.
