Course Overview

The Doctor of Philosophy (Food Service Technology) at Management & Science University (MSU) is a research-based doctoral programme designed to advance knowledge, innovation, and leadership in the management, production, and technological aspects of the food service industry. The programme integrates areas such as food science, nutrition, hospitality, engineering, and business management to address contemporary challenges in food service systems, sustainability, food safety, and consumer health.

Students undertake independent and original research that contributes new knowledge to the field. The programme also prepares graduates to influence policies, improve industry practices, and develop innovations that enhance food safety, quality, efficiency, and sustainability across different food service environments

Entry Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

• A Master’s Degree accepted by the HEP Senate.

• Other qualifications equivalent to a Master’s Degree and accepted by the HEP Senate.

Direct PhD entry from a Bachelor’s Degree: Excellent Bachelor’s degree graduates may be considered for direct admission to the PhD, provided they:

• Hold a First-Class Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, or achieve a minimum CGPA of 3.67 or equivalent.

• Pass a rigorous internal assessment by the HEP.

• Obtain approval from the HEP Senate.

• Demonstrate appropriate academic progress throughout their doctoral candidature.

Applicants progressing through this direct-entry route will not receive a Master’s degree as an exit award if they do not complete the doctoral programme.
