Course Overview

The Master of Science in Public Health at MAHSA University is designed to provide students with the knowledge and professional skills needed to protect, promote, and improve the health and well-being of individuals and communities. The programme prepares graduates for a wide range of career opportunities across public and private healthcare and public health settings.

This 1.5-year programme consists of three long semesters and one short semester. Students receive comprehensive training in key areas of public health, including epidemiology, communicable and non-communicable disease prevention and control, health systems management, biostatistics, research methodology, health promotion, occupational and environmental health, health-risk assessment, population health, public health policy, and leadership.

Learning is delivered through a variety of methods, including lectures, tutorials, case studies, seminars, workshops, field visits, and professional presentations. Students benefit from the expertise of experienced faculty members with local and international public health experience. The programme emphasises critical thinking, analytical skills, and the ability to evaluate existing practices and contribute to the development of effective public health initiatives.

Graduates will develop the competencies required to work and lead effectively in diverse public health environments. They will be able to identify community health challenges, address health inequalities, develop appropriate interventions, and implement strategies that improve population health. The programme also strengthens advanced research skills, enabling graduates to conduct independent research and contribute to evidence-based public health practices.

Entry Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.50.
