Course Overview

The Doctor in Orthodontics (DrOrth) is a three-year specialist clinical programme designed to provide advanced training in orthodontic diagnosis, treatment planning, and clinical management. The programme forms part of MAHSA University’s specialist dental training pathway and is designed to develop advanced clinical skills for managing patients with different types of malocclusion and dentofacial irregularities.

The programme combines academic learning with clinical training, allowing students to develop their expertise in orthodontic assessment and treatment. It also incorporates research activities to develop students’ ability to evaluate evidence, conduct clinical research, and contribute to the advancement of orthodontic practice.

At MAHSA, the Doctorate programme follows a one-year Master of Orofacial Sciences followed by a three-year Doctorate, which forms the specialist training pathway for registration as a dental specialist under the Malaysian Dental Act 2018, subject to the applicable requirements. The Master’s programme offers Integrated Orthodontics as one of its discipline options.
