Course Overview

Paramedics are often among the first healthcare professionals to respond to medical emergencies, providing immediate care to critically ill or injured individuals and helping to save lives. They are responsible for assessing and managing patients in pre-hospital and out-of-hospital settings.

A career as a Paramedic can be highly rewarding for individuals who are compassionate, caring, and able to remain calm and effective in stressful and rapidly changing situations.

Students will receive training in clinical decision-making, patient assessment, recognition of life-threatening cardiac rhythms, defibrillation, medication administration, and airway management. The programme develops the knowledge, practical skills, and professional attitudes required to meet international standards of paramedic practice.

Paramedics play an important role in the continuum of healthcare, connecting patients with appropriate health services and resources. Their responsibilities may also include public education, health promotion, and participation in injury and illness prevention programmes. Career opportunities for paramedics have also expanded into areas such as private ambulance services.

Entry Requirements

SPM

• Pass with a minimum of 5 credits in five subjects:

  • Bahasa Malaysia

  • English

  • Mathematics

  • One Science subject: Biology, Physics, Chemistry, General Science, or Applied Science

  • One other subject
