Course Overview

The Diploma in Medical Imaging at MAHSA University is a specialised three-year programme designed for students who have completed SPM or an equivalent qualification and are interested in pursuing a career in medical imaging and diagnostic healthcare.

Medical Imaging, also known as Radiography, focuses on producing images of the internal structures of the human body to assist in diagnosing diseases, injuries, and other medical conditions. Students are introduced to a variety of imaging technologies, including X-rays, ultrasound, Computed Tomography (CT), and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). The programme is particularly suitable for individuals who have an interest in diagnostic medicine and enjoy working with advanced scientific and medical equipment.

Throughout the programme, students develop both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in biophysical and health sciences, as well as in the operation and application of radiological imaging equipment. The curriculum covers important areas such as basic anatomy and physiology, medical imaging technology, computer fundamentals, microbiology, pathology, biochemistry, medical and radiation physics, pharmacology, radiographic photography, and radiographic techniques.

Upon completion, graduates will have the essential knowledge and practical competencies required to perform diagnostic imaging procedures safely and effectively. With the growing importance of medical imaging in modern healthcare, qualified medical imaging professionals are in demand across hospitals, medical centres, and other healthcare institutions.

Entry Requirements

SPM or Equivalent

• Pass SPM or an equivalent qualification, including a pass in Bahasa Melayu and English, with 5 credits in the following:

  • Mathematics

  • One Science subject: Biology, Physics, Chemistry, General Science, or Applied Science

  • Any three other subjects, which may include Bahasa Melayu and/or English if credits are obtained

For SPM applicants, the qualification must include a pass in Bahasa Melayu and History.
