The Diploma in Environmental Health at MAHSA University is a comprehensive three-year programme designed for students who have completed SPM or an equivalent qualification and are interested in environmental and public health. The programme provides students with an understanding of how environmental, biological, physical, cultural, and social factors can affect human health and contribute to the spread of infectious diseases. Students will also learn about the importance of proper sanitation, disease prevention, and effective corrective measures.
The programme explores the relationship between human activities and their impact on environmental quality and overall well-being. Students will develop the ability to observe and analyse environmental issues using scientific evidence and logical reasoning, enabling them to develop informed conclusions and practical solutions to current environmental health challenges.
Key areas of study include environmental health issues, the effects of pollutants on the human body, physical, chemical, and biological contaminants, the release of pollutants in solid, liquid, and gaseous forms, hazardous waste management, vulnerable populations, risk assessment, scientific decision-making, and emerging global environmental health concerns.
Upon completion of the programme, graduates will have a strong foundation in relevant scientific principles and supporting areas such as environmental health legislation, professional codes of practice, ethics, and effective communication.
