Course Overview

Islamic finance has been recognised by the World Bank as a powerful driver of development worldwide, reaching well beyond countries with Muslim-majority populations. It is now among the fastest-growing segments of the global financial industry, sustaining double-digit growth over the past decade even amid broader economic headwinds. What began in traditional Islamic markets has since expanded into a strong global presence across banking, takaful (Islamic insurance), and capital markets.

Since 2008, Islamic banking in non-Muslim countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and France has grown at an estimated 10-15% annually, offering an ethical and sustainable alternative to conventional interest-based banking. Total assets in the industry continue to rise year on year, supported by increasingly sophisticated financial products and growing participation from countries, companies, and institutions worldwide.

In response to this global demand, the Bachelor of Science in Islamic Finance at MAHSA University offers a comprehensive 3.5-year programme developed in collaboration with university partners. The programme is designed to produce graduates who are not only well-versed and skilled in Islamic finance, but who also embody strong integrity and sound social and personal values — qualities that add lasting worth to any organisation. Graduates will emerge as principled leaders committed to upholding the objectives of Maqasid al-Shariah.
