Course Overview

The pharmaceutical industry is a rapidly growing sector that offers a wide range of career opportunities. This programme is designed for students who are interested in pursuing a career in pharmaceuticals and provides comprehensive knowledge of the drug development process, from initial discovery and design through testing, quality control, manufacturing, and marketing.

During the first two years, students will develop a strong foundation in essential scientific areas, including human physiology, pharmacology, drug development, and pharmaceutical design. Particular emphasis is placed on the manufacturing and quality control of medicines. In the final year, students will gain practical industry experience through placements, where they can apply their knowledge to drug formulation and pharmaceutical manufacturing. Students will also undertake a supervised research project focusing on a selected area of pharmaceutical technology.

The programme prepares graduates for careers across the pharmaceutical and related industries, including research and development, regulatory affairs, herbal products, and cosmetics. It also provides a strong foundation for students who wish to continue their education at master’s or PhD level.

Entry Requirements

• STPM / SPM: Pass STPM with a minimum Grade C (GPA 2.33) in any two (2) subjects, or an equivalent qualification, and obtain three (3) credits at SPM level, including Mathematics, one Science subject, and one other subject, or equivalent qualifications.
