The Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Hons) through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) at MAHSA University is a four-year undergraduate programme designed to equip students with the knowledge and practical skills needed for a career in healthcare. The programme focuses on improving physical movement and functional independence while promoting overall quality of life through the prevention, management, and rehabilitation of neurological, cardiorespiratory, musculoskeletal, and other physical conditions.
Students gain comprehensive knowledge in applied and functional anatomy, physiology, pathology, physiotherapy rehabilitation, research methodology, clinical reasoning, and evidence-based practice. The programme also develops practical competencies in manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and electrotherapy, which are essential for effective physiotherapy management. Students are required to complete a minimum of 1,200 hours of clinical practice as part of their training.
Learning is delivered through an online platform using lectures, tutorials, discussions, seminars, and case-based learning activities. Self-learning materials are provided online before scheduled sessions, while lecturers facilitate learning through interactive case scenarios and discussions. Practical components are conducted through face-to-face sessions to ensure students develop essential hands-on clinical skills.
Diploma graduates may also be eligible for credit transfer, with up to 30% of the total graduation credits potentially granted through appropriate module mapping.
