Course Overview

The Bachelor of Medical Imaging (Hons) at MAHSA University is a four-year undergraduate programme designed to prepare students for professional careers as radiographers. The programme provides comprehensive training in a range of medical imaging technologies, including X-ray radiography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computed Tomography (CT), and ultrasound, which are essential for diagnosing and assessing diseases and injuries. Graduates, also known as medical diagnostic radiographers, can pursue opportunities in hospitals, medical centres, and healthcare institutions both locally and internationally.

Throughout the programme, students will develop knowledge and practical skills across various areas, including human anatomy and physiology, pathology, radiation physics, medical radiation, X-ray techniques, clinical radiography, sectional and regional imaging, vascular imaging, mammography, CT, MRI, ultrasound, imaging pathology, radiation safety and biology, radiographic procedures, image interpretation, health statistics, and professional practice.

Students will also develop the practical competencies required to perform medical imaging procedures safely and effectively. These include positioning patients correctly to obtain high-quality diagnostic images, selecting appropriate radiographic exposure factors to optimise image quality while reducing radiation exposure, and applying different imaging techniques to visualise anatomical structures and identify diseases or injuries. The programme also covers the use of nuclear medicine in cancer care, radiation protection practices, patient assessment, and professional standards for ensuring the safety and comfort of patients.

Upon graduation, students will be equipped with the technical expertise, clinical knowledge, and professional skills needed to provide essential medical imaging services and contribute effectively to healthcare teams in medical institutions worldwide.

Entry Requirements

STPM / Matriculation / Pre-University

• Pass Matriculation, Pre-University, STPM, or an equivalent qualification with a minimum GPA of 2.33 in two of the following subjects:

  • Biology

  • Physics or Mathematics

  • Chemistry
