Course Overview

The Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Hons) is a four-year undergraduate programme developed with input from industry experts and approved by the Engineering Accreditation Council Malaysia (EAC) and the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

After completing Semester 6, students undertake industrial training to gain practical experience in a professional engineering environment. At the end of the training, students are required to submit a report, while industry partners assess their performance. This training forms an important part of the programme’s engineering accreditation requirements and allows students to develop practical experience in technical work, project activities, and professional reporting.

The programme combines advanced theoretical knowledge with practical engineering skills, while also introducing students to strategic planning and project management. In their final year, students can select from six elective modules, allowing them to develop specialized technical knowledge relevant to industry and future employment.

Students also complete Thesis 1 and Thesis 2, which provide opportunities to engage in research and development. Thesis 1 focuses on research with potential for commercialization, while Thesis 2 emphasizes the academic and practical application of knowledge within the student’s chosen area of study. These projects help students strengthen their critical thinking, analytical, problem-solving, and independent learning skills, preparing them for professional engineering careers.

Entry Requirements

STPM

• Pass STPM with a minimum Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in three (3) subjects, including Mathematics and at least one Science subject.

• Applicants with other qualifications, such as UEC, Foundation, STAM, or equivalent certificates, may contact the educational consultants or submit an application for an admission assessment.
