Bachelor of Environmental Health and Safety (Hons)

Course Overview

MAHSA University’s Bachelor of Environmental Health and Safety (Hons) is a four-year undergraduate programme designed to prepare students for careers in environmental health and safety management. The programme focuses on addressing health and safety challenges related to environmental factors such as pollution, extreme temperatures, waste disposal, and other potential hazards. With growing concerns surrounding climate change and public health, expertise in environmental health and safety is increasingly valuable.

Throughout the programme, students will study a broad range of topics, including the relationship between environmental conditions and human health, disease transmission, environmental monitoring and safety equipment, industrial and residential development, water quality and safety, food production and safety, and occupational health and safety. Students will also examine different types of pollution, including air, water, soil, radiation, and noise pollution.

Other areas of study include disease prevention and control, health surveillance and research, community health development, waste management, pest control, accident and disaster management, transport safety, risk assessment and management, environmental legislation and regulatory compliance, and public relations.

By the end of the programme, graduates will have the knowledge and skills to identify, evaluate, control, and minimise risks across a variety of hazardous environments. They will be able to develop effective measures to prevent accidents and injuries in workplaces, homes, and other environments, while recommending appropriate strategies to safeguard communities from environmental and health-related hazards.

Graduates of this programme will be well prepared to contribute to improving environmental health, promoting safety, and creating healthier and safer communities.

Entry Requirements

STPM

• Matriculation, Pre-University, STPM, or an equivalent qualification with a minimum GPA of 2.33 in any two of the following subjects:

  • Biology

  • Physics or Mathematics

  • Chemistry
