Advanced Diploma in Paediatric Nursing

Course Overview

The Advanced Diploma in Paediatric Nursing at MAHSA University Malaysia is a one-year post-basic nursing programme designed for qualified nursing diploma holders with relevant clinical experience who wish to specialise in caring for infants and children. The programme develops students’ knowledge and practical skills in meeting the healthcare needs of children and supporting their families.

Throughout the programme, students will explore key areas such as physiology, pathophysiology, infant and child nutrition, clinical application of theoretical knowledge, critical thinking, problem-solving, and the effects of illness and hospitalisation on children. The programme combines theoretical learning with practical training to help students develop the competencies required for paediatric nursing practice.

Upon completion, graduates will be prepared to provide primary nursing care, rehabilitative care, palliative care, and specialised healthcare for children across different age groups. They will also be equipped with the skills needed to work effectively in specialist paediatric hospitals, medical centres, and other healthcare settings.

Entry Requirements

STPM

• Possess a Diploma in Nursing from an institution recognised by the Malaysian Nursing Board (MNB).

• All candidates must be medically certified as fit by a registered medical practitioner within one month of commencing the nursing programme.
