Course Overview

The Bachelor in Occupational Safety and Health (Honours) – Open and Distance Learning (ODL) at the University of Cyberjaya is a three-year undergraduate programme designed to develop students’ knowledge and practical skills in occupational safety and health. The programme focuses on protecting employees from workplace hazards and promoting safe and healthy working environments. It is available through Online and Distance Learning, providing greater flexibility for students who need to balance their studies with work or other commitments.

Students study key areas such as occupational safety and health legislation, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, risk assessment and management, construction safety, emergency preparedness, fire safety, accident investigation, and environmental management. They also develop an understanding of occupational health, safety management systems, workplace psychology, and professional ethics.

The programme combines theoretical learning with practical and industry-focused activities. Students develop the ability to identify and assess workplace risks, implement appropriate safety measures, investigate workplace accidents, and develop strategies for improving occupational safety. The programme also includes a Final Year Project and Industrial Training, allowing students to apply their knowledge and skills in real workplace environments.

Entry Requirements

Applicants are generally required to hold a recognised pre-university qualification, such as STPM, STAM, Matriculation, A-Level, UEC, Foundation, or an equivalent qualification, subject to the academic requirements set by the university.

Applicants with a relevant Diploma may also be eligible for admission, depending on the qualification and entry requirements. The programme is also available to students through the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode.

For international applicants, an appropriate level of English language proficiency may be required, such as IELTS, TOEFL, or an equivalent recognised qualification, depending on the university's admission requirements.
