Bachelor of Game Design (Honours)

Course Overview

The Bachelor of Game Design (Honours) at City University Malaysia is a three-year undergraduate programme designed for students who want to transform their passion for gaming into a professional career. The programme combines creativity, storytelling, art, and technology to develop the skills required to design innovative and engaging games for the evolving global gaming industry.

Students learn to create immersive game worlds, develop compelling gameplay experiences, design memorable characters, and bring creative concepts to life using industry-standard tools and technologies, including Unreal Engine. Through hands-on projects, students gain practical experience throughout the entire game development process, from the initial concept and design stages to the development of functional prototypes.

The programme places strong emphasis on practical learning and portfolio development, allowing students to strengthen their creative, technical, problem-solving, and storytelling abilities. Each project provides opportunities to apply industry-relevant skills and build a professional portfolio that demonstrates their capabilities to potential employers.

Upon graduation, students are prepared to pursue careers in game design, level design, interactive media, game development, and other creative technology fields, with the technical knowledge and creative skills needed to succeed in the rapidly evolving gaming industry.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

• A pass in Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) with at least Grade C (Grade Point 2.00) in any two (2) subjects; or

• Hold other recognised qualifications or certificates, such as UEC, Foundation, STAM, or equivalent, subject to admission assessment by City University Malaysia.
