Bachelor of Animation (Honours)

Course Overview

The Bachelor of Animation (Honours) at City University Malaysia is a three-year undergraduate programme designed to develop creative talent and technical expertise in animation, digital art, and visual storytelling. The programme prepares students to become skilled animators, digital artists, and creative professionals capable of producing engaging visual content for the rapidly expanding creative media industry.

Students gain comprehensive knowledge of both traditional and digital animation techniques, exploring a wide range of animation disciplines, including 2D animation, 3D animation, stop-motion animation, visual effects (VFX), and motion graphics. The curriculum combines artistic creativity with technical proficiency, enabling students to transform ideas into compelling animated experiences using industry-standard software, tools, and production workflows.

Through practical studio projects, collaborative productions, and portfolio development, students acquire real-world production experience while strengthening their creativity, problem-solving abilities, teamwork, and communication skills. Guided by experienced academics and industry practitioners, they develop the confidence and professional competencies required to meet the evolving demands of the global animation and digital content industry.

Upon graduation, students are well prepared to pursue careers in animation, visual effects, game development, film and television production, digital media, advertising, and other creative technology sectors.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

• A pass in Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) (Arts Stream) with a minimum Grade C (Grade Point 2.00) in any two (2) subjects; or

• Hold other recognised qualifications or certificates (such as UEC, Foundation, STAM, or equivalent), subject to admission assessment by City University Malaysia.
