Course Overview

The Master of Education in Learning Design and Technology (ODL) at Asia Pacific University (APU) is an online postgraduate programme designed to develop advanced knowledge and practical expertise in learning design, educational technology, and digital innovation. The programme prepares educators, instructional designers, trainers, and education professionals to create engaging, technology-enhanced learning experiences that improve educational outcomes across schools, higher education, corporate training, and online learning environments.

The programme integrates learning sciences, instructional design, and emerging digital technologies, enabling students to design innovative learning experiences that meet the evolving needs of modern education. Optional APU–DMU Dual Degree Scheme

Students enrolled in the Master of Education in Learning Design and Technology (ODL) have the opportunity to participate in the optional APU–DMU Dual Degree Scheme. Upon successful completion of the programme, participants receive two degree certificates and academic transcripts—one awarded by Asia Pacific University (APU), Malaysia, and another by De Montfort University (DMU), United Kingdom.

Participation in this scheme is optional and requires an additional fee of GBP 375 per year.

General Entry Requirements

Applicants must satisfy one of the following requirements:

• A Bachelor's degree in Education with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or an equivalent qualification accepted by the APU Senate; or

• A Bachelor's degree in Education with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 but below 2.50, subject to a rigorous internal assessment; or

• A Bachelor's degree in a non-related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.50, subject to passing the prerequisite courses; or

• A Bachelor's degree in a non-related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.00, subject to a rigorous internal assessment and successful completion of the prerequisite courses.

Additional Requirement:

• Applicants without an Education-related Bachelor's degree are required to complete the prerequisite modules before progressing to the Master's programme.
