The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Engineering by Research is an advanced graduate program focused on conducting original research in a specific engineering field.

Students in this program work closely with faculty advisors to develop a research proposal and conduct independent research that contributes to the body of knowledge within their chosen engineering discipline.

Core components of this program include conducting extensive literature reviews, designing and executing experiments or simulations, analyzing data, and presenting findings in a dissertation.

Furthermore, students are expected to demonstrate critical thinking, problem-solving, and research skills throughout the program.

Upon completion of the program and successful defense of their dissertation, graduates are prepared for careers in academia, research institutions, industry, or government agencies, where they can make significant contributions to the advancement of engineering knowledge and practice.

Dual Degrees from APU and DMU United Kindom

Students who joined the Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering program at APU University Malaysia will have the option to apply for the APU-DMU Dual Degree Scheme. Under this Scheme, students will be able to get 2 Degree Certificates and transcripts upon graduation: 1 from Asia Pacific University (APU), Malaysia, and 1 from De Montfort University (DMU), UK. please note this is optional and costs GBP 375 Per year.
