Course Overview & Entry Requirements

The PhD in Computing (By Research) at Asia Pacific University (APU) is a research-intensive doctoral programme designed to develop advanced expertise in computing and information technology. Students conduct independent, original research under the guidance of experienced academic supervisors, contributing new knowledge to the field through a doctoral thesis. The programme also includes research-related coursework to strengthen theoretical understanding, technical expertise, and research capabilities aligned with each student's area of specialization.

Throughout the programme, students develop advanced analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, preparing them for careers in academia, research, and industry leadership. Graduates are equipped to drive innovation and contribute to the advancement of computing technologies across various sectors.

Students also have the option to participate in the APU–De Montfort University (DMU), UK Dual Degree Scheme, allowing them to graduate with degree certificates and academic transcripts from both APU, Malaysia, and DMU, United Kingdom. Participation in this scheme is optional and subject to an additional annual fee.

Entry Requirements

• A Master's degree in a related field recognized by the APU Senate.

• Other qualifications equivalent to a Master's degree may also be considered, subject to approval by the APU Senate.
